The Heretic Needs Your Help!
Whew! I’ve been busy! In the last few weeks, I’ve visited a number of great friends, been backpacking, and camped in the rain. I’ve also sampled Dave’s world famous BBQ, completed my ruck packing list, tried freeze-dried camping food (yuck!) saw Hancock, nearly got into a fight with a speeding grandpa, and caught a bad case of pharyngitis. But most importantly, I’ve made the final changes I need to the second novel, and I’m working on the final touches for the website. I’ve placed a project on a freelance website in the hopes of finally getting the artwork done that I need to flesh out my site. I’ve had a couple of promising bids so far. I’ve tweaked the theme I’m using and I’ve updated my query letter. Very soon I will be ready to query agents again, and hopefully this time I will be more successful than last time. I’m getting excited again. Folks, you really can help me out with this. You might think you can’t, or that your contribution doesn’t add up to anything, but you can help, and it does add up. If you haven’t seen the site, please take a few minutes to look it over. It’s at HERETICSQUEST.COM.If you have friends who like to read, please mention the site to them. If you have a webpage, blog, myspace, facebook, etc, you can link the novel’s site there. It really will help. The more traffic I get to that site, the more viable a marketing tool it becomes, and the more appealing it appears to prospective agents. The more people who become aware of my work, the better chance I have of an agent finding it, or – if I self publish, I’ll already have a fan base and a waiting market. I average 3800 unique visits per month on this blog. Most of it is casual browsers, but I have to wonder what would happen if just ten percent of these visitors decided to take three minutes of their lives to help me out. What would happen if 380 people referred someone else to my novel, or linked the website from their own? I hope you will choose to be in that ten percent. Ok, you asked for it.
What I need you to do is write me two generic 550-650 word articles a week about writing. It can be on writing poetry, essays, fantasies, etc. The topic doesn’t matter.
I will set you up a free account where I work and get those articles distributed across the Internet. I also have some submissions software that hits about 200+ places they don’t. The long-term objective is to drive targeted traffic, predisposed with interest, to your sites.
The idea is to build your reputation as a writer, not sell the book or site directly. I can’t get spam published for you. But just general, generic stuff that shows your expertise as a writer.
We will make you up a good author’s resource box at the end of the piece with links to here or your main site and the Quest site. The idea here being: not only do you build your rep, but for every place one of your articles is published – you get a one-way link back to your sites. The Google spiders love that shit and it will help you improve your SERP’s in fairly short order.
We need to define a set of keywords and keyword phrases to use and make your own. Then, from now on when you write articles, you will own those keywords. They have carryover value for newsletters, ezines, press releases, etc. That will get you to the top of the first Google page much quicker and allow you to stay there.
Or not, it’s up to you. But that’s what I can do to help the program out.
