The Editor
A few words concerning Shannon's editorial endeavors.
The Other Side of the Fence
I'm an author, but I'm also an aspiring editor. I work with an exceptional editor, a woman named Sandy Tritt. Please take a few minutes to check out her website, at Inspirationforwriters.com. If you know some one who wants a little bit of help with their writing, whether it's basic proofreading or a content edit or coaching, please feel free to refer us!
I like editing well enough. It pays a few bills and keeps me busy, but I value it mostly because helping others with their writing helps me improve mine. I also hope to use the job as a major selling point when I make a bid for a creative writing class at WVU-P next fall.
I've not had many clients yet, but the ones I do have are happy. Here's a comment from one satisfied customer:
"I was absolutely blown away with the editing job you two did. You have taken the essence of the soul of my story and said it so magically. I know if the rest of the book is edited as you did that one chapter, we have a best seller.... The way you edited that chapter, you guys doing the entire book will leave such an impact on the readers. I am reading what you wrote and I am shaking in my chair and I know the story. Imagine how the readers are going to feel. This is magic. This is brilliant."
Amendment, January, 2008: I no longer work regularly as an editor, due to time constraints. I will take on a project once in awhile by special request.
