Rules: General Spellcasting Mods

1. Successes withheld to limit the radius of area of affect of a spell can be used to resist drain.
2. Spell descriptions of how a spell looks are intended as guidelines only. A spell’s actual manifestation is specified in its formula.  For instance, the textbook, generic manifestation of an armor spell is a “glowing field of magical energy around the subject.”  A custom armor spell formula will work the exact same way, but may manifest as translucent medieval plate armor, or a shimmering giant chicken costume.  Spells chosen at character creation are assumed to be customized in this regard, subject to player imagination.  Spells purchased after character creation must be bought with manifestations already encoded into the formula, or custom designed.
3. At character creation, a character is assumed to have spell formulas that are customized to him, meaning the spell manifests however the character envisions it.  For instance, an armor spell may be a faint glowing aura, or it could be translucent medieval armor, depending on the spell formula
