24.01.08 It’s been a long time coming, but I think I finally have the opportunity to work on this site again. My first priority is the biography section. After that area has been updated, I’ll add a few new short stories and albums.

23.06.07 After careful consideration, I have decided to stop all development and work on this website. This halt is not permanent, but will not be brief, either. I’ve decided that my time and attention are spread too thinly over too many endeavors, and the time has come to focus my resources on the goals that matter most. This website is not on the list. I may still be reached via email, the contact form, or the subscription form. if you ‘re on the mailing list, you’ll receive an email when I get some extra time to devote to this site again.

I plan to put some time into developing a network on MySpace. I don’t know if I’ll have the time, nd if I do, I don’t know if I’ll be successful. Either way, my account can be found at

16.06.07 Last weekend was an eventful time. I won honorable mention in the WV Writer’s short story contest, and I met a literary agent who requested a few pages of Heretic! Read the full details in the Heretic’s Journal.

02.06.07 I’ve added a new section under Fiction, called Dark Thoughts. It holds two short pieces I wrote for Random Head Trips a few months ago, and I liked them so well that I decided to repost them here.

I’ve also done a minor update to the biography, but it’s not news to anyone who’s passed through Random Head Trips in the last three months.

01.06.07 It’s an older poem, from my original blog, but I finally got around to posting “Doin’ Time” in the Nightmares section.

31.05.07 Two songs have been added to the Women Poetry section. Song writing is a new challenge for me, so please check out “Guilty Survivor” and “So Long,” and let me know what you think. Are they good, or should I not quit my day job just yet?

30.05.07 Two new poems are added to the Life section. They’re called “Nine Tenths of the Law” and “Reality.”

29.05.07 Even though it’s more than a week until the final judging, I’ve re-posted all of the content that was stripped out due to the 2007 WV Writers Contest rules! When you have a minute, please check out Delta Ghosts, Shadow Infraction, Scattered Thoughts, Fell, and Walmart Romeo. They’re very glad to finally be home again.

23.05.07 It’s still under construction, but I’ve launched the rough draft of the website I’ll be using to promote Heretic and its sequels. It’s at Hereticsquest.com,and it’s worth a visit if you want to know about the book.The sampling of Heretic that was here may still be viewed there, along with pages and pages of additional content. If you’re a fan, there’s so much to do there. I’ve posted my notes, character biographies, and maps. There’s a section for downloads, fan mail, and other contributions. I’ve made a forum for community interaction and posted a blog that serves as my “writing diary.” If you’ve been curious about the book, this is the place to go!

18.04.07 The final vote for the Heretic intros was 7/4, in favor of the “male” intro. For those of you who liked the “female’ intro, don’t despair! I’ve decided to use BOTH! You can now go to the Heretic page and read the book’s beginning as it will appear in the actual novel. I’ve also fixed a few minor typos and inconsistencies throughout the site. That’s all the news I have to report for this site for now. I know I’ve had nothing new here for awhile, but I’ve been busy building the new home for Heretic. The novel is getting its own site very soon!

03.03.07: I NEED YOUR HELP! I’ve posted two possible beginning sequences to my novel, and I need to know which one would make you most likely to read the rest of the book! Please read them both and vote here.

11.02.07: To make up for the content I stripped out, I’ve posted a number of new articles. In Humor, I”ve placed Just Friends, Birth of Five Speed, and Poke A Hontas. In Biography, I’ve placed Happy Pills, Matters of Spirit, and Matters of Faith. In Nonfiction, I’ve placed She Knows. Some of these were earmarked for submission in the WV Writer’s Contest, but lack of funds has forced me to narrow my scope this year.

11.02.07: I’ve removed a number of entries from this site because I’ve decided to enter them into the 2007 WV Writer’s Contest, and the official rules prevent the submission of writing that’s published on websites that meet various criteria. I’m not sure if this website counts, but I thought it would be best to take down the material, just to be on the safe side. It will return in a few months.

29.01.07: I’ve added another gallery to the photos page. This one is of Lake Greenwood and environs.

20.01.07: The newsletter is back and even better than before. I’ve also added a subscription form to allow folks to sign up for the mailing list without registering on the journal or forum.

18.01.07: I’ve added another part of the Sam and Sarah story, Salt & Pain. This is the best part of the story, in my opinion!

14.01.07: I’ve added a few new photos to the Heart Land gallery and to Odds & Ends, including the only known photo of me with a goatee.

13.01.07: I’ve added a few “behind the scenes” facts about my fiction selections.

12.01.07: I’ve added a new photo gallery of the home where I was raised.

11.01.07: Since the Sobol Award fell apart, I no longer have to worry about overexposure of my story, so I’ve re-posted the prologue to my novel. Check out a taste of Heretic!

03.01.07: I’ve posted a new photo gallery containing a few photos from the time I was in Thailand.

28.12.06: BIG NEWS!! After years of wanting to do this, I finally have my own discussion forums! When you get a chance, check out the write up on RandomHeadTrips for more details, or jump straight to the Cybernetic Nexus!

26.12.06: I have a new gallery posted on the Photos page! Check out Heart Land when you get a chance!

25.12.06: I still haven’t put any pictures in the fiction section. I’ve having trouble picking out which ones I want for the stories. I have added a couple new site banners on the Links and Banners page. I woke up thinking, “Don’t fear the sausage.” It doesn’t make any sense to me, either, but it made a neat slogan for a banner.

17.12.06: I’ve got text pasted into the Fiction and Humor sections now. Pictures will be coming soon. After that, I’m going to try to post something new at least once a week in the hopes that folks will return occassionally.

16.12.06: Lots of new stuff today! I’ve added a site news archive page, rebuilt my personal world news page, added a soldier page, added photos to the poetry section, started a poetry section in the erotica area, and decided to omit photos from the nonfiction section. I’ve also totally rebuilt this home page because my program lost the original one, and I’ve started using Copyscape to protect my content here.

14.12.06: The erotica section is coming along. It should be “up” and running before the week’s end. I’ve also posted site banners in the Friends section for anyone who wants a banner to link my site from thier site or blog. I tried a couple new features to help me interact with visitors, a RSS feed and a web based server side chat program, but both were junk. Oh well; win some and lose some.

13.12.06: After careful consideration, I have decided to place my erotica into a password-protected area. Having it readily accessible has bothered me for some time, and this extra layer of protection will ease my conscience enough to allow the inclusion of erotic art and photography to enhance the experience. The section is not ready yet, but it will be soon. When it is complete, I will email everyone who has registered at my online journal and give you the password. Future visitors will have to register to receive the password. Please see the Erotica section for further details.

12.12.06: The Poetry section has text and a few graphics added. More poems and pictures will be coming soon!

12.12.06: The Home, Site at a Glance, Head Trips, Photos, Publications, From Readers, The Teacher, The Editor, Biography, Friends, and Contact sections are complete with text and graphics, including the biography I never got around to posting on tomswriting.com. I have text loaded into Nonfiction and Erotica, but no pictures yet. The Poetry, Fiction, and Humor sections are still empty for now.

11.12.06: I’m consolidating shannonthomas.org and tomswriting.com. How do you like the new look and layout of the site? I still have a great deal of content to migrate over from tomswriting.com, and much of it needs to be reformatted, but I’m making progress. I hope to have most of it finished this week. Content will remain posted at tomswriting.com until the migration is complete. Then the site will be torn down. Please stay tuned.
