Readers’ Praise

The following quotes were pulled from emails, website feedback, and blog comments. These quotes are honest and true; I copied them directly from source documents, typos and all. I have not displayed them in an attempt to boast or brag. They are here to remind me that my words can make a difference in people’s lives, that people do appreciate what I write. When I feel disheartened, disgusted, or frustrated, I come here to be reminded of my inspiration.

  1. I have to say that something about “Mirrors” speaks to me. Your words are so evocative.
  2. You have such a gift of telling a story. I bet you could recite the yellow pages to me and I’d enjoy it.
  3. You also know that I love the Shadow Infraction. You better send that to an agent. Seriously.
  4. I just was reading through some of your work. There is so much there I can relate to, yet so much that I cannot. However, all of it touches my heart. You are truly a gifted artist. Please continue to write.
  5. Please continue to share your experiences, your hope, your anger, all that you have to share. It is all beautiful in one way or another. You never cease to amaze me.
  6. As always Tom, your work amazes me. Great job!!
  7. You are amazing! Truly, you have a gift with words. Now stop reading this so, you can go work on your book – the future NYTimes best seller.
  8. Your skill at the craft and your imagination make me want to read everything you have written.
  9. Thanks SO Much…. Five for this wonderful story on the end of your innocence. I am still laughing, since I am probably your parents age(or older)
  10. you tell a damn good story Continue reading Readers’ Praise »»

Reader Response to the Original Heretic

Shannon has let a number of people of various genders, ages, and professions read his book, and most of them had something to say after reading it. Please note that these folks read the novel before he split it into two separate books, so if you’ve read Warlock’s Wake and don’t understand some of the references written here, it’s because they pertain to the second half of the original novel.

Heretic Feedback 2007

In 2007 Shannon entered Warlock’s Wake into the annual First Novel Contest hosted by The Writing Show. (At the time he hadn’t split the novel in two, so it was still technically called Heretic.) He didn’t place, but part of the contest appeal was a guaranteed 750 words of critique/feedback. This article contains the words he received from one of the judges.
